Job Responsibilities

  • Lead an integrated government/contractor team of technical and functional experts in the conduct of Global Command and Command System – Joint (GCCS-J) administration; software application support, configuration management support, and IT support services supporting U.S. Army Central (USARCENT) GCCS architecture Advise and Assist local commands with long-term planning, lifecycle maintenance, system engineering/modification/expansion, and operationalization of Common Operating Picture (COP) platforms and GCCS-J architecture across the AOR Coordinate with other stakeholders including CENTCOM J6 and DISA for strategic planning for GCCS and COP assets in the AOR Provide onsite support for systems/services operated and maintained by the Server Maintenance Team and the Global Command and Control System (GCCS) Technical Support Team
  • Prepare, update, and maintain accreditation packages for new or existing systems and equipment.
  • Maintain and publish current network information to include trend analysis of common problems and system performance, average device and service uptime, service outage durations and frequencies, and trouble ticket status updates
  • Monitor servers, applications, and services to facilitate early detection of incidents, impending outages or degradations
  • The contractor shall be responsible for ensuring system availability and reliability of the Global Command and Control System - Joint (GCCS-J) and related GCCS Family of Systems (FoS) on U.S. and Coalition networks
  • The contractor shall be responsible for engineering, design, maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, configuration, and the implementation of existing and future versions of the GCCS FoS.
    Conduct planning activities to include upgrades, enhancements, and replacements of software and hardware
  • Perform system, security, and operational testing/evaluation events in coordination with other stakeholders (DISA, Joint Staff, CENTCOM, etc.) to determine suitability to field for future releases
  • Attend GCCS-related Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) and other conferences or meetings
  • Provide technical support including IA and Client/Server installation for interoperability of the ABCS including: links to Command Post of the Future (CPOF) COP (Common Operational Picture) management through the use of GCCS-A/J, C2PC, I3 (Integrated Intelligence and Imagery), ICSF (Integrated C4I Systems Framework), AGILE Client, JOPES, Theater Ballistic Missile Defense (TBMD), and various GCCS-J subsystems
  • The contractor shall provide recommendations, and network synchronization tools solutions regarding integrating the C2 systems applications into the existing architecture, processes and procedures
  • The contractor shall load and configure all hardware and software; establish and maintain user accounts, files and profiles; troubleshoot and resolve system aberrations; and, as required, identify and report network malfunctions to those responsible for its maintenance
  • Provide management, system administration, planning, and operational support for all C2 servers and client assets, including UNIX systems, TBMCS, MAAP-TK, GCCS-J, JADOCS, VMware, and Citrix
  • Perform Configuration Management and Project Management and ensure IA compliance for all GCCS FoS assets
  • Support infrastructures in a mixed Windows/UNIX environment and Red Hat Linux
  • Modify and maintain UNIX/Linux & Windows Hardware & Software configurations
  • Implement and maintain Window desktops
  • Analyze system faults, troubleshoot and run diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of engineers and administrators including: technical guidance, providing training for advanced troubleshooting, personnel management, and being direct interface to Government leadership at the O-6 and General Officer level.
  • Minimum 10 years of technical working knowledge of Basic UNIX, Web Logic, Solaris 8 and 10, LINUX, Red Hat, VMware, and Windows Operating Systems/Servers and supported systems IAVAs. 
  • Experience operating and maintaining systems in virtualized environments. 
  • Understand Active Directory.
  • Minimum 10 year experience with design and engineering of GCCS-J and related architectures to design, install, configure, and field new systems or modify existing systems.  
  • Must have demonstrated experience with systems including: CPOF, Agile Client, C2PC, I3, ICSF, JOPES, TBMD, JADOCS, JTT, C2BMC, IPL, and/or JOPES. 
  • Ability to integrate these systems and their applications with one another, as well as other Army Battle Field Command Systems (ABCS) and joint platform systems.
  • Experience accessing and evaluating information technology systems and making recommendations to management about incorporating systems into the enterprise architecture. 
  • Critical thinking – ability to visualize and articulate end-to-end systems solutions. 
  • Must be capable of performing complex tasks related to military operations at the Combatant Command staff level.
  • Demonstrated experience and relationships with key stakeholders in the GCCS-J community including COCOM J6 staff, DISA PMO, and others.

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced technical certifications including MCSE, Solaris, RedHat, LINUX, and/or UNIX.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 12+ years of related Systems Engineering experience (at least 10 of which must be directly related to GCCS-J architectures) are required; OR, High School equivalent and 18+ years of relevant experience.

Security Clearance

  • Secret.  Must be upgradable to TS-SCI as needed.
