Job Title:  Physical / Operational Security Specialist


Job Location:  DC Metro


Security Clearance: Minimum interim TS required.


Job Responsibilities

  • Physical security specialist to travel and audit secured DOD spaces for information security compliance.
  • Administers and provides guidance and assistance to physical, information, industrial, and operations security programs. 
  • Develops and maintains SOPs, Emergency Action Plans, and Fixed Facility Checklists. 
  • Conducts assessments detailing security deficiencies to protect classified information and systems. 
  • Provides support for all security functions in accordance with DCIDs, ICD, NISPOM, and other applicable government security directives. 
  • Maintains all security documentation in accordance with Government regulations. 
  • Assists in the preparation and accreditation of classified IT systems to include user access, auditing, configuration management, documentation, and training. 
  • Develops and oversees implementation of procedures relating to building/office access control, personnel security and incoming and outgoing visitor control and badging. 
  • Develops, directs, and manages the internal security self-inspection program. 
  • Maintains security documentation and files in accordance with DSS requirements. 
  • Develops and administers security standard practice procedures. 
  • Investigates and writes reports pertaining to security violations and compromises and implements corrective actions. 
  • Conducts Security Education, Training and Awareness Program: indoctrinations, debriefings, annual refresher training, and foreign travel, espionage, cyber security and special assess briefings. 
  • Develops and manages security audit protocols, checklists, and standard practice procedures. 
  • Provides risks assessments and mitigation strategies. 
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with Federal Agencies and assessing security clearance requirements in support of all programs. 
  • Advises senior management of Federal security regulations and procedures. 
  • Provides liaison with Defense Security Service (DSS), Department of Defense (DoD), Department of State (DoS), Department of Energy (DOE), Intelligence Community (IC), and other Federal Agencies. 
  • As required, responsible for developing, implementing and managing a Communications Security (COMSEC) account.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in physical and operational security for the DOD or in support of DOD contracts.
  • Minimum 2 years of ISSO/ISSM experience. Must understand information security particularly related to Information Technology systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering training curricula related to physical and operational security in the DOD.
  • Demonstrated experience with accreditation of secured/classified spaces.
  • COMSEC custodian training strongly preferred and may be required during the course of the contract.
  • Experience with Insider Threat procedures.
  • Required certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP) required. 

Desired Qualifications

  • DSS security specialist course recommended.

Security Clearance

  • Minimum interim TS required.
