Job Responsibilities

  • The Watch Officer provides operational, technical, and specific equipment and systems skill sets in communication systems analysis and cross-organization coordination.
  • It requires expertise supporting continuous communications service to all C2, enduring, tactical, and afloat locations.
  • The work will be performed in the Network Operations (NETOPS) Control Center to serve as a Watch Officer and Information Security Advisor to maintain C4 situational awareness in support of command and control (C2), accomplish Command-wide long-haul communications infrastructure management, manage HQ and theater Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI) programs, coordinate response to emergent events, and mitigate operational impact resulting from significant theater and enterprise communication and service outages.
  • Comprehensive incident, problem, and change management reports/requests to improve efficiency and maximize network availability.
  • Prepare daily network operational status briefs with operational impacts.
  • They shall effectively prepare and provide reports, oral and written, pertaining to C4 ideas, statuses, and impacts to individuals or groups effectively taking into account the audience and technical nature of the information.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of verifiable intermediate level systems administrator experience in a Microsoft environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive IT experience, at least 1 of which must be supporting DOD contingency operations (i.e. Africa, Southwest Asia), including DOD (NIPR, SIPR) and Coalition (CENTRIXS, BICES) networks.
  • Intermediate level experience designing, operating, and maintaining a Windows operating environment running on a virtualization backbone.
  • Intermediate level experience engineering and implementing a large scale Active Directory environment utilizing Windows Server 2008R2 and above.
  • Experience with configuring hardware/software in accordance with DISA STIGs.
  • Experience providing network and IT services such as Network Management (NM), Information Assurance (IA), and LAN/WAN administration
  • Demonstrated experience planning, assessing, reporting, and managing potential network risks and operational status, as well as, escalation and problem resolution status information; demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate information flow from all stakeholders to senior military personnel (O-6 and above) for incident/crisis response and/or mission support.
  • Experience in administering network layout installations, system support with knowledge of installing, operating, and performing diagnostic testing and repair of fixed and deployable tactical voice and data communication systems; In-depth knowledge of telecommunications facilities, architecture, and circuit connectivity
  • Microsoft certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) Server Administrator (or newer equal Microsoft certification) or Cisco Certified Network Administrator(CCNA)
  • Candidate must be DOD 8570.01 IAT-II compliant
  • Must be a US Citizen.
