    Job Responsibilities:

    Trace Systems is looking for a bright, self-motivated Technical Writer specialized in system design documentation development and technical writing to join a growing Enterprise Systems team to design, develop and support DoD Enterprise-Level integrated systems. This role demands high standards for engineering quality, and a deep passion for customer success. You will be part of a fast-paced team where open communications, empowerment, innovation, teamwork and customer success are the foundations of the team. This position includes working with core architecture / engineering / implementation / operations teams developing, supporting and enhancing cutting edge technologies for the DoD space. This role is responsible for developing, managing and integrating logical & physical system designs and documents including network diagrams, rack elevations, virtualized logical/physical configurations, operational support models, systems build books, training manuals, technical white papers, proposals and procedures. The position will support highly advanced projects and technical documents that include physical and virtual networking, compute and storage technologies, design innovation within an engineering lab.

    Daily Responsibilities to Include: 

    • Analyze user needs to determine functional and cross-functional requirements. Performs functional allocation to identify required tasks and their interrelationships. Identifies resources required for each task. Analyze requirements, available design documents, develop and deliver intuitive and logical design packages in Visio, PowerPoint, and Word
    • Understand technical requirements & engineering concepts and translate them into conceptual designs, documents and presentations
    • Align, update and intuitively package functional and design documents
    • Interface with Configuration Management, Systems architects, and engineers from several disciplines to develop system documentation and artifacts for Engineering, Implementation, Information Assurance, Operations and Maintenance
    • Develop and manage evolving system designs throughout the lifecycle of the system
    • Travel to customer sites for site surveys and operational support. This will require understanding of physical data center elements such as power, rack elevations, and cabling as well as an evolving level of virtualized system administration.
    • Perform as-built updates to design packages throughout multiple iterations of system design
    • Coordinate changes with the Change Manager via a forward schedule of change calendar
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Five years direct experience in the last fifteen years with DoD/Military/Agency networks
    • Minimum 2 years of systems and networking design drawing/documentation experience
    • Required skills include proficiency in systems analysis, network analysis, as well as highly efficient use of Visio, PowerPoint, Word and Excel for rapid delivery of technical documentation and presentations.
    • Ability to support system installations, including rack mounting and network cabling, as well as application integration
    • Experience with Technical Writing (Enterprise IT Systems), Systems Design, and technical process Visualization
    • An active, in-scope US Government issued TS clearance with SCI eligibility
    • Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements: US Citizenship is required.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • ITIL Foundations
    • Security+
    • MCSE, CCNA, VMware or similar Technical Certification


    • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Business, Electrical Engineering, Finance) OR at least fifteen years of general experience of which 12 directly related experience
