Job Title: Systems Engineer

Job Location:  Ft. Meade, MD 

Security Clearance:  Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret/SSBI clearance

Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship required.

Job Responsibilities:

Trace Systems is seeking an innovative and highly driven Systems Engineer to join our growing team in Fort Meade, Maryland. This role will be a part of a dynamic, multi-disciplined team, creating network infrastructure design and providing multi-enclave Coalition connectivity to our customer. The Systems Engineer will provide direct support to our customer’s mission operations with a dynamic set of responsibilities designed to ensure satisfaction of approved customer requirements while creating a challenging role to drive professional growth.

Duties to include:

  • Handle escalated Tier III tickets pertaining to installed technologies
  • Perform build outs and upgrades of installed technologies, such as applications and domains
  • Maintain/Upgrade base images for Microsoft 2012R2/2016, Redhat, and Win10
  • Stage/Prepare hardware, virtual environments, domains and applications for tech refresh activities
  • Participate in all aspects of assigned projects
  • Continually update documentation pertaining to deployments and internal technical documents.
  • Troubleshoot/Repair/Address all issues and tasks assigned by team lead
  • Work with remote Systems personnel to maintain operational systems
  • Engineer messaging systems, Windows Server Enterprise supported by the Infrastructure team by performing server builds, virtual machine management, server maintenance, etc.
  • Install, maintain and monitor equipment, which may include network and server infrastructure, application systems and database systems
  • Recommend and implement changes to the overall system and messaging environments through following an institutionalized change management process
  • Act as an escalation point on critical issues for various internal technology groups
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of twelve years of related IT experience within the fifteen years
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in systems administration and support
  • Experience with applying monthly patching and STIG updates
  • Strong Experience managing a Windows environment, including but not limited to Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
  • Experience in Cloud and Hybrid cloud environment utilizing VMware or similar technologies
  • Experience with VMware Operations Manager, LogInsight, Subject Matter Expert with either Active Directory, Exchange, VMWare, SharePoint, or other complex Windows applications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of desktop operating systems and applications
  • May require professional certification in one or more specific technologies, depending on job assignment
  • Ability to support on-call 24/7 operations
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT-II certification (Security +ce, CCNA-Security, etc.)
  • Current computing environment certification: (Microsoft or VMware)
  • An active, in-scope US Government issued Secret/SSBI clearance
  • Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements: US Citizenship is required

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with change and configuration management specifically audits, status accountability, and reviews
  • Experience in generating or assisting with the development of Program plans, processes, and procedures
  • ITSM appliances, such as Remedy or ServiceNow
  • Experience with the forecasting, planning, and resourcing technical projects with responsibility to deliver within cost, schedule and performance


  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Network Engineering, Math). With at least twelve years of general experience of which ten years is directly related experience, a degree is not required.
