Job Title: Field Service Representative (FSR)

Job Responsibilities:

Trace Systems is actively recruiting for an experienced Field Service Representative (FSR) to provide training, platform installation, operational field support, and network management to forward-deployed operations in the CENTCOM region. Primary location will be in Jordan with frequent travel throughout Southwest Asia. Additional TDY assignments may include travel to Europe, Asia, Africa, and Central/South America.


The MWR Internet Cafe Program is a satellite and terrestrial communication program that provides deployed US service members as well as support staff and contractors with secure commercial Internet access at deployed locations. The FSRs are the customers’ first contact with the MWR Internet Cafe Program as the most direct and immediate source of support for system performance, operational expectations, and overall operational value.

Trace Systems is looking for FSRs with the ability to navigate the deployed environment, resolve service problems, perform maintenance, and install, configure, and test VSAT and terrestrial Internet cafe systems. FSRs will be responsible for:

  • Communications equipment and services.
  • Troubleshooting VSAT, LAN, and WLAN hardware using test equipment and diagnostic tools.
  • Preparing VSAT and baseband equipment for installation by inventorying, configuring, testing, and/or modifying equipment as required.
  • Program and configure switches (layer 2), microwave line-of-sight radios, wireless access points, satellite modems/routers, LNBs, and BUCs.
  • Cabling (primarily CAT 5/6 and coax) associated VSAT and LAN devices IAW established standards and government-specified design, fabrication, and installation specifications.
  • Candidate shall support the installation, configuration, testing, and evaluation of VSAT, LAN, and WLAN equipment.
  • Candidate shall coordinate the implementation of Internet cafe technologies and equipment with various operational military commands and/or agencies and their supporting organizations.
  • Candidate shall facilitate the distribution, deployment, installation, training, and preventive maintenance of Internet cafe equipment in each operational theater working with DISA, operational military commands, and other organizations as necessary.
  • Candidate will be required to work 72 hours per week.
  • Candidate shall be on-call to provide 24x7 onsite support to operational forces conducting real-world operations.
  • Shall develop formal practices and procedures for the operational fielding of Internet cafe technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
  • Appropriate technical certifications and experience with ISP/OSP cabling, VSAT, microwave line-of-sight radios, IP fundamentals, switching, routing, and firewall technology, and desktop & peripheral technologies.
  • Have the ability to travel throughout the region as needed.
  • Will be required to travel frequently by ground convoys and other modes of military transportation which often experience extensive delays and hostile combat environments.
  • Ability to live and work in a deployed contingency environment (shared cafeteria, shared bath and sleeping quarters, limited amenities).
  • Must be able to carry 50 pounds for distances of up to ¼ mile.
  • Must be able to work outside for extended hours in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Position will require bending, kneeling, or crawling to route cables under, inside, and on top of vehicles.
  • Able to work on ladder and on roofs of multi-story buildings to install antennas.
  • Must be in good health and have the ability to successfully complete medical examinations as dictated by the U.S. Army (CRC).
  • Working understanding of Army/Marine Corps logistic forms policy and procedures or need to understand basic military concepts.
  • Possess a current United States Passport valid thru 2027.
  • Possess a valid United States Driver’s License in good standing.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid FBI background check to obtain Iraq residency visa.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Military signal or telecommunications background.
  • Experience with remote VSAT communications systems.
  • Experience with basic networking and network protocols.
  • BICSI or similar cable installation certification.
  • Understanding of military organizations and Infantry/Combined Arms operations.
  • Prior military instructor experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite applications.
  • Prior experience working overseas is a plus.
  • Minimum of 4 years working with applicable technologies.
  • Knowledge of the visa process for locations such as Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq, and Jordan. 

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Trade School Diploma
